Assistant Professor (since 1992) Associate Professor (2000-2003)
|
I did my M.Phil Biochemistry Course at Basic Medical Sciences Institute, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College & conducted research work at Aga Khan University /National Institute of cardio Vascular Diseases Karachi. Being a part of these renowned institutions, I got the exemplary experiences in teaching, learning methodologies, research & laboratory techniques along with modern knowledge & tools for medical education. I joined Quaid-e-Azam Medical College during 1992 as Assistant Professor through PPSC. I started the implementation of my experiences as given above in lectures by using the audio- visual aid first time in this campus. It increased the perception of students and hence indulged myself in making doctors with an excellent knowledge of Biochemistry which is an essential subject for the diagnosis of different diseases. I started the lectures on genetics & molecular biology which was the need of time required for PLAB & USMLE from 1992 & extending until 2004 when UHS was established. The curriculum of UHS expanded the details of genetics & molecular biology, which was continued exceptionally by me at QAMC, when the topic was not being properly dealt in other Medical Colleges. It was all due to my various lab training on gene, Cell Biology & Molecular Biology starting from 1994-2000 I tried my best to change the teaching atmosphere of Biochemistry Department in coordination with my senior and junior colleagues.

Head of Department & Associate Professor (2003-2005)
Professor of Biochemistry (2005 - 2023)
|
I took up the
departmental tasks from scratches & switched the old conventional
working with the modern working techniques which was the dire need of
the time.
Traditionally, there were only lectures & practical classes without using proper evaluation techniques during the whole session which was leading towards low percentage of results. I applied the modern teaching methodologies recommended by the medical educationists of UHS in the form of interactive lecturing, tutorials, problem based learning (PBL) & clinical students seminars which is still exceptional in this medical college. Students were started being evaluated by my previous knowledge achieved in workshops & trainings as well as according to the recommended criteria of UHS by the standard MCQs, SEQs, VIVA and practical / OSPE tests which increased the result percentage up to 97%. Approximately 100 distinctions in the subject of biochemistry have been achieved up-till now due to continuous efforts by me upon the students & department. I conducted regular aptitude development session for the teachers to enhance their teaching capabilities hence increasing the human resource in public sector medical college. |

As Resident Assistant Warden 1992 to 1995.and Chief Warden boys hostel QAMC |
When I joined QAMC as Assistant Professor in May, 1992, I was assigned the duty of Assistant Warden Johar Hall, when the political groups were dominant over the hostel administration. Mess & canteens were under the control of these groups. The groups were use to carry the firearms and were threat to the college and hostel atmosphere. After taking the charge of hostel, a marshal committee of students was declared comprising of noble and studious students. The closed mess was started and extended to the good facility of canteen by making the availability of the undersigned maximally among the students round the clock in the hostel living to an excellent hold over hostel administration along with continuous success full messing. Monthly dinner were started in the hostel which was followed by the musical concert for each class in the auditorium and defeated the culprit political leaders. I was removed from this assignments in 1995 without any reason. I took over the charge as Chief Warden in mid 2012 in the situation when various regional, sectarian & political groups were working in the hostel having their no go areas within the hostel. Fight & brawl and use of drugs were common. Many students were being expelled and on probation since more than 10 years. It led to the ill studious atmosphere and high failure rate along with detention due to above mention reasons. Many students had become psychiatric. Those who were found psychiatric were sent to the head of psychiatry department on special collaboration basis as a priority case. But I was doing this job since long as Assistant Warden to alleviate the psychological stress of the students decreasing the production of psychiatric doctors by having the counseling, moral & financial support. In this way I dealt at least four cases of suicidal attempt & put them on therapy, & helped to passed out their final examination by all types of support. They were repeatedly detained due to their problems but have been passed out as doctors. I generated a coordinative & interactive administrative team comprising of Chief Warden, Deputy Warden, Resident Assistant Warden, Hostel Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor / Mess Munshi and Security Supervisor for each hostel to look after & deal the various issues on daily basis urgently. The following are main changes in the hostel under my Chief Wardenship.
Discipline and messing: I personally put my availability among the students in their rooms other than my morning duties till very late night in the hostels. I made my accessibility to the students on mobile phone round the clock to decrease the threat of group leaders. I declared myself not as a chief warden but as a guardian. I made a channel of students and my administrative team to call the Elite force through 15 at the start of any fight / brawl. This administrative system gradually dissolved the group leader and decreasing the brawl, fright and harassment. A studious and peaceful atmosphere was developed leading to the suppression of group leaders and decline in use of drugs. Gradually the various group leader are passed out under my keen eye, moral support, love and affection. Now hostels are fight, brawl & drugs free zone healthy activities are fully supervised & sponsored. These groups were also involved in fooling and ragging of new 1st year students which was controlled within one year and eliminated in next one year. Now this institution is exceptionally free of fooling and ragging. The messing and eateries were improved by making different student committees under the control of hostel supervisors, resident Assistant Warden, Deputy Warden & supervised by the Chief Warden. The messes are being run on highly subsidized rate even the charges are Rs:120/- per day now a days for 02 time meals (lunch & dinner). The new concept of dining hall breakfast and evening tea service was started 1st time in the history of QAMC to make available subsidized and healthy food items. Security, living atmosphere, Air Conditioned Reading Rooms and games: The living atmosphere was improved by making the various proposals and followed the cases at each table / office up-till purchase and supply which include renovation of 40 to 50 year old bathrooms with the tile works, ample supply of filtered and cold drinking water by increasing the number of electric water cooler, now big filtration plant has been installed to provide the safe drinking water. Theft and outsiders were common in the hostel that was controlled by various maneuvers of check & balance over the guests etc. Construction of security wall with barbed wire and installation of CCTV cameras within all the hostels is near completion. Air conditioned table tennis rooms are available in two hostels, volley ball and badminton facility was made available in all hostels to create the healthy atmosphere along with annual hostel competition Common rooms were not being used by the students due to the availability of social media. These common rooms have been converted into AC reading rooms. These reading rooms remain open 12 hours daily (2 PM-2 AM) during working days & 16 hours (12 PM-4 AM) during the examination days/ preparation leave. It has enhanced the studious atmosphere & increased the result percentage along with number of distinction in various subjects. Foreigner Students Hostel: The foreigner hostel was declared soft target by the security agencies, hence asked to enhance the security of foreigner students by all means. I started meeting & counseling with the foreigner students to cooperate for the maintenance of daily movement register along with departure & arrival reports from station, as required for onward transmission to various security agencies. It was a difficult task to be established. Because foreigner students were living & moving freely since thirty years. Moreover exit & entry record was strengthened by the radio frequency ID card checked by Biometric device linked with software which is an exceptional security system in the college which is highly appreciated by various security agencies.

As Chairman Warden Hostel Committee |
A Warden Hostel committee was declared by me comprising of the undersigned as chairman & deputy warden of various hostels. The objective of committee was to deal with the misconduct of students & fight/ brawl etc prior to the disciplinary committee dealings by involving the parents. It worked as a filter. The notorious students were dealt at the earliest in the presence of their parents to nip the evil in the bud. It reduced the generation of culprits & lead to decrease in fight & brawl producing a peaceful atmosphere.

|
As member Disciplinary Committee |
Being a member of disciplinary committee, I acted as a buffer in between students & administration at one end & on the other hand I was the source of full information of the cases which covered the gap between students & administration. When & where as requested punishment was awarded in the form of call to father for counseling, Probation & fine along with short term expulsion from hostel. Being Chief Warden & member disciplinary committee my whole gesture lead to the gradual decline in misconduct which is negligible now a days.

Upon which awareness & diagnostic/ laboratory services were given to the population of the Bahawalpur by holding various camps & seminars / lectures. The patients of chronic diseases were registered at my private lab with discount card for the laboratory support & free prescription.
